For people who have the responsibility for the day to day operating of a Before and After School Care and/or Vacation Care Service. Responsibilities include undertaking a managerial role for the supervision of other staff and volunteers, and for developing and evaluating the program. After successfully completing the Diploma of Out of School Hours Care, your qualification would earn you the classification of a "Qualified Out of School Hours Care Worker |
It is the natural next step for those who already hold a Certificate IV in Out of School Hours Care, or have gained competence in the relevant prerequisite competencies, to enrolling into the Diploma of Out of School Hours Care. With recognition of current competencies and prior learning, trained and experienced workers may well gain substantial credits towards the Diploma of Out of School Hours Care.

There are three ways to gain this qualification - through completing a training program, or undertaking a recognition of recognition of prior learning, or completing theory online. Once you know which of these three options best apply to you, then you can access further information.

The Diploma of Out of School Hours Care is currently available as a traineeship in VIC, to new workers under the User Choice/New Apprenticeships Program.
Skills Deepening - Student Tuition Contribution
Tuition contribution fees are calculated per nominal enrolled hours to the maximum and minimum fee. Fees are calculated per calendar year of training.
This qualification can be delivered as a self funded training program to people not currently working in the industry, but interested in pursuing a career in children's services, or to those workers who are not eligible for a traineeship but wish to undertake training.
The Diploma of Children's Services can also be gained through a self funded assessment only process.
