It will appeal to those currently working in Before and After School Care programs. It will also be of interest to those who have been working in the industry for a number of years. With recognition of current competencies and prior learning, these experienced workers may well gain substantial credits towards the Certificate IV in Out of School Hours Care.

There are three ways to gain this qualification - through completing a training program, or undertaking a recognition of recognition of prior learning, or completing theory online. Once you know which of these three options best apply to you, then you can access further information.

The Certificate IV in Out of School Hours Care is available as a government funded traineeship, to new workers under the User Choice/New Apprenticeships Program in VIC.
The Certificate IV in Out of School Hours Care is a 2 year traineeship, which means that existing workers may also have the opportunity to undertake this traineeship on a fee for service basis, meaning their employer uses some of the commonwealth incentives they receive for employing a trainee to pay for the training delivery.
This qualification can be delivered as a self funded training program to people not currently working in the industry, but interested in pursuing a career in children's services, or to those workers who are not eligible for a traineeship but wish to undertake training.
The Certificate IV in Out of School Hours Care can also be gained through a self funded assessment only process.
