Centre Direction

Accreditation

The Quality Improvement and Accreditation System (QIAS) is based on 7 Quality Areas and 33 Principles that summarise and define long day care. These Quality Areas and Principles guide the centre in maintaining and improving the quality of their child care practices.
To be accredited, a centre must achieve a rating of Satisfactory or higher on all 7 Quality Areas.
An accredited centre is required to continue its self-study and continuing improvement. The accreditation period is every 2.5 years.
NCAC was appointed by the Australian Government to administer the following Child Care Quality Assurance (CCQA) systems:

  • Family Day Care Quality Assurance
  • Long Day Care Quality Improvement System
  • Outside School Hours Care Quality Assurance

NCAC's guiding principle is 'Putting Children First'. Their vision is quality experiences and positive outcomes for all children. Their mission is to set standards to improve the quality of child care and accredit services that meet the standards.
One World for Children is accredited under the Long Day Care Quality Improvement System.

Universal Children's Day

The adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the creation of Universal Children's Day reflects the growing recognition that children are important and valued members of society, now and in the future. Universal Children's Day celebrates children just for being themselves. It reminds us that children need love and respect to grow to their full potential. It is a day to listen to children, to marvel at their uniqueness and all they have to offer.

A key objective of Universal Children's Day is to increase awareness of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Since its adoption by the United Nations, the Convention has been signed or ratified by more countries than any other international treaty. Over the past decade, the Convention has proven to be a valuable tool for promoting the rights of children everywhere around the world.
